Research is overwhelming that increasing your activity will improve the quality of and lengthen your life. Recent research on disorders as diverse as diabetes and dementia is conclusive and adds to the well as very established research for heart disease, bowel dance and back pain. We are not talking about small changes either these results are profound. The Winter is over and we understand that it has been hard, particularly with the rain we have had in the UK, but that’s it, the days are getting longer and the weather will be getting better.
Start slowly, have a target and establish a routine that you know you can maintain, an aspiration to run a marathon is less useful than walking rather than taking the tube to work every day!
ENJOYMENT, ROUTINE and COMPANY
Whatever activity you choose it is important that you do it regularly, that requires you to establish a routine and that is easier if you enjoy it and doing it in company helps you do it when you feel less inclined, your co-trainer becomes you coach and you do the same for them!
