The Spine TeamWho are The Spine Team? The Spine Team was started by Gordon Linscott
and Annette Williams in April 2004 to try and
further their interests in back pain treatment and management. Although back pain can
be a short term or ‘Acute’ condition provoked by an injury the research is clear
that far more trouble is caused by ongoing or ‘Chronic’ back pain. Gordon
and Annette have specialised in this area and follow the research suggesting
that chronic back pain cannot be ‘fixed’ but has to be managed away.
The Spine Team
hinges around the strong philosophy and dedication to patient needs make the
Gordon and Annette the perfect first point of contact. The management of
chronic back pain has to involve the patient and their Practitioner but at The
Spine Team it does not stop there. As well as their professional
team of staff who help with the efficient running of the clinic they are also in
contact with a series of other experts usually including the patient’s GP, but
also Specialists, other Therapists and Physical Trainers. Understanding
the whole patient and involving them in their treatment rather than just trying
to deal with their immediate pain is the key to successful patient
management. Injuries, such
as sprains/strains, through work, recreation or sports related activities are
important to The Spine Team and every effort is made to accommodate emergencies
as soon as possible. In dealing with acute (short term) pain, the goal is
to reduce pain and assist healing. The management of acute pain is very
different to managing chronic conditions however successful outcome is always
dependent on patient’s involvement. This may be straight forward if the
injury was obvious but in cases of non-traumatic injury, such as repetitive
strain, our history and examination procedures should give insight into the
cause and therefore a fast, accurate solution with the correct treatment and
right advice.
